Week one has come and gone. If I’m being honest, I couldn’t have asked for a better start to the season than the one I had. I beat my expected point total of 128 by putting up a monstrous 189.22. Let’s take a closer look at how my team performed. I will be highlighting the top performers of my team.
Starting off hot.
Jayden Reed. That’s it. That should honestly just be the end of the post. Reed was my top performer of the week, posting a disgusting 33.10 points in PPR format. He was a one man wrecking crew against Philadelphia. Reed was doing damage as a rusher and a receiver this game. He had one rush for 33 yards and a score and 4 receptions for 138 yards and a score. Who let me draft this man in the 8th round?? This might be the steal of the draft come end of the season.
You live by Anthony Richardson, You Die by Anthony Richardson.
This has become the official motto of my team. Today we lived. Richardson showed why he was my 1st overall pick this year. Richardson posted a great stat line where he scored 26.08 fantasy points. He once again showed why he was drafted 4th overall by the colts two years ago, despite being such a raw prospect. He passed for 212 yards with 2 TD passes as well as rushing for 56 yards and a score. He did throw a pick, but I’m willing to take the bad as long as he keeps posting these kind of stat lines.
The Receiving room… much left to be desired.
My trio of starting receivers did so/so. Obviously, I can’t complain since my team as a whole did so well. The pass catchers are gonna need to step it up in the coming weeks. DJ Moore put up a pedestrian line of 5 receptions for 36 yards and a rush for 14 yards. Like I said, much to be desired. Hopefully the game isn’t too fast for Caleb and they start producing in the next few weeks.
Zay Flowers also had an underachieving day. He had 6 receptions for 37 yards and 2 rushes for 14 yards. The main takeaway from this game was that he had 10 targets! This solidifies his role as the alpha in the receiving room.
And that brings us to our YAC Demon, Mr. slant man himself, Rashee Rice. It’s safe to say he is going to be Mahomes’ favorite target this year. 9 targets, 7 catches, 103 yards. This is exactly the production I was hoping for when I drafted him.
Establish the run.
Both of my running backs exceeded their point projections. Achane didn’t have the best day rushing, but he did all of his damage through the air. 10 rushes for 24 yards and a score with 7 receptions for 76 yards. The fact that I play in a PPR league really helped out Achane’s day. B-Rob also had a fantastic day. 12 rushes for 40 yards and a score to go along with his 3 receptions for 49 yards. Washington was really able to move the ball on the ground which bodes well for B-Rob in the future.
The Beast Incarnate, Brock Bowers
“Ladies and gentlemen. My name is Paul Heyman. And it is the greatest privilege of my career to serve as the advocate for the Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar Bowers!
I have a good feeling about this kid. I think he is gonna finish as a top 5 TE. He had 8 targets and caught 6 of the for 58 yards. It may not stand out as an incredible stat line, but he is already getting premium target share as a rookie. The future looks bright for Bowers.
The Diamond of the draft.
Jordan Mason got the nod to start after CMC was ruled out with a calf/Achilles injury. And Oh boy, he took advantage of the opportunity. In his first ever start at the NFL level, Mason rushed 28 times for 147 yards with a score. If CMC can’t go next week, Mason is a must start in this 49er offense.
It was definitely a good first week. I ended up beating my opponent (sorry Will) 189 to 91. I am now currently sitting in first place thanks to the amount of points my team scored. I am feeling pretty confident in my team and hopefully we can follow up this performance with another win next week.
How did your team do this week? Hopefully you guys also got a W.
