The Raiders want Minshew Mania.

Hide your wives if you live in the Las Vegas metropolitan area, because MinshewMania is running wild, brother.

The Las Vegas Raiders named Gardner Minshew QB1 ahead of their first game of the season. This came as a surprise to many as they believed it was second-year player, Aiden O’Connell’s job to lose.

How does this decision impact your fantasy team?

For starters, this isn’t a Gardner Minshew post, this is a Davante Adams post. Last year, Minshew played for the Indianapolis Colts. He took over starting duties after Anthony Richardson went down for the season with a shoulder injury. His number one receiver was Michael Pittman Jr. These are the numbers they put up together:

Minshew was force-feeding Pittman last year, and it’s safe to assume he will be doing the same with Davante this year. Davante is undoubtedly the alpha of this offense, and I’m confident he will still be receiving the lion’s share of targets. Barring any injuries, I can still see Davante putting up at minimum top 15 WR numbers.

Temper Expectations

Even though the QB choice bodes well for Adams, I would still temper expectations. The current offensive coordinator for the Raiders, in my opinion, is a downgrade from the previous coordinator Minshew worked with. Shane Steichen worked wonders for the Colts last year and took a team with a backup QB, within one win of making the playoffs. Luke Getsy, the current OC for the Raiders, came from the Bears. The Bears have been a dumpster fire the last couple of years. This is his first year with the Raiders, so it’s best to see how the team performs before we start writing him off.

Davante is one of the few receivers in the league that I think are QB proof. This means that no matter who is throwing him the ball, he is still going to put up numbers. Hopefully this post doesn’t come back to bite me in the ass. Good luck and happy drafting!
